The Crosscurrent is a Guwahati-based digital news platform reporting and writing on issues in India, with a special focus on Assam. We specialize in investigative and analytical journalism, going beyond headlines to examine the stories that shape our region and our times.

Founded on 2nd April 2019, The Crosscurrent was born out of a commitment to build an independent and alternative media voice — one that isn’t beholden to vested interests and isn’t afraid to ask hard questions. We believe a free and accountable press is essential to a functioning democracy, and we strive to embody that belief in every story we publish.
