We are glad to inform you that The Crosscurrent is organising a special discussion session on the report of the Tiwari Commission, which was constituted to inquire into the disturbances in Assam in 1983. The Crosscurrents obtained the report under the Right to Information Act.
Eminent historians and legal experts will take part in the discussion, along with Dr Arupjyoti Saikia of IIT Guwahati, Santanu Barthakur, Advocate at the Gauhati High Court, and senior journalist Bedabrata Lahkar, an eyewitness to the events at Nellie of 1983. The session will be anchored by writer and human rights activist Bonojit Hussain.
